Lichen sclerosus et atrophicus can be detected with a pap smear much like ASCUS and HPV are. The patches appear usually on the torso and genitals and tend to expand to areas under breasts and folds of the skin. Irritation of the vagina may lead to pain during a sexual intercourse.
