Test For HPV
A test for hpv can be ordered if a physician is suspicious of human papillomavirus infection or pathologist finds ASCUS.
Usually the first sign of infection shows up on an abnormal pap smear test. The viruses that cause HPV increase a woman’s risk for cancer of the cervix. The amount of time between acquisition of the disease and having visible symptoms can range from weeks to months to years.
A test for hpv can be ordered if a physician is suspicious of human papillomavirus infection or pathologist finds ASCUS.
