Bactirial vaginosis is easier to treat than cervical dysplasia or cancer of the cervix. Treatment is simple and effective once the infection is diagnosed. Symptoms are itching and burning and an unpleasant, fishy odor. Many women have this and are unaware they are infected until they are diagnosed during a routine pelvic exam and Pap smear.
